Homework, Notes, 11/12/08

hi all

i hope our last class helped you see the value of following a simple idea to a rewarding conclusion- e.g. the 20 representations. in my experience of the creative process it's often helpful to focus on 1 concept and let your mind work on variations for a while. later, the ideas you came up with are great soil for an amazing design solution.

let's see what you come up with for this week's assignment:

using work from last week (or an evolution of it) create TWO versions of an album package. they may be in either of the following two forms, or one of each:

1. a 12 1/4" square vinyl record slipcase (front and back)

2. a 5 1/2" square folding CD slipcase (4 pages: front, inside spread, back), with a 1/4" spine

think carefully about how you use color and space to treat your images. do you use multiple images per area? do you crop your image in close? is it off in one corner or dead center? remember, with only a series of images on the album they need to be beautiful or eye-catching...

good luck!
